PDA Unlocked Phone
PDA is an acronym for Personal Digital Assistant, the term assigned to handheld computer devices. A lot of these PDA devices are getting added to mobile phones and offered as one unit. PDA/mobile phone combinations have the properties of a miniature computer with the latest GSM cell phone doing double duty for you. Regrettably, PDA mobile phones bring with them a typical and dubious issue shared by GSM phones. Frequently, the mobile phone provider locks the device using an internal blocking system that precludes using a SIM card from a different company. This precludes the phone’s owner being able to freely switch providers or buy pre-paid SIM cards for trips. This particularly limits how you can use your phone when you take it on trips to different parts of the world.
Fortunately, PDA mobile phones can be unlocked without much effort so you can use different SIM cards. In order to get this done properly, you will need to use a cell phone unlocking service. The unlock service may be accessed on-line. They can help you with the unlocking procedure with a couple methods. The first option is sending you, through email, the programming that can conduct the unlocking for you. It’s necessary to have the USB cable that links your PDA mobile phone to your PC, generally included with the purchase of a phone. In addition, you must have the software disc that came with the PDA mobile phone. Even if you lack the right gear to unlock your mobile phone, this is not a major issue. You can have the unlocking procedure done for you by shipping your phone to an unlocking service.
Surprisingly, the majority of unlocking services charge a lower amount to actually unlock your phone and mail it back, than they charge just for the email programming code. The reason is they are charged for royalties whenever they transmit a code, and pass this expense along to you. The sole benefit of trying to unlock it on your own is that it is faster since there’s no need to ship your phone to an unlocking company. Your SIM card is not required in order to unlock your service. So you can take out the SIM card and use it in a spare mobile phone until you get yours back.
PDA Unlocked Phone FAQ
Question: How much extra would you pay for an unlocked phone/PDA on ebay?
I have PDA phone I want to sell on ebay. My cell phone provider will send me the unlock codes for a phone once every 90 days. I’m trying to decide whether to use this to unlock the phone before I put it on ebay or to use it to unlock the phone I am keeping for my personal use instead. I’m trying to assess how much more I would get on eBay if I got the phone unlocked first before I sell it versus the hassle of trying to get my current phone unlocked if necessary through some third party service.
Answer: If your going to sell it on ebay, the best idea is to unlock it, because then its able to cover more plans. I’d probably pay most at fifty bucks over the normal price. But dont stretch it. Start the bid low, and someone will probably pay more than its worth once two bidders get in a fight it can be a brutal thing, but good for you profit wise. If you start it low it gives the bidder even more of a reason to bid. If your really concerned about getting your moneys worth, then set a reserve on it for the lowest you would want to be paid for the phone.
Question: Can you enable features such as email on an unlocked PDA phone?
I am looking to buy a unlocked Q and need to know if I will be able to get it to work with AT and T.
Answer: It has to be on your plan, if not call customer service and they’ll activate it for you and add any additional charges to the next monthly bill. It rarely runs over 5 or 6 dollars. See if they have a deal.
Question: Can I connect the RIM Blackberry 7230 unlocked PDA Cell Phone with the wireless internet at my house? Or?
how does it works? Because I just bought one and I might get the T-mobile blackberry plan. Is the internet fast on the 7230? good graphics? can i have MSN on it?
Answer: Yes if you get a data plan, yes the internet is fast, and yes you can have msn on it.
Question: If a cell phone or PDA is unlocked can i use my existing wireless plan on it?
I’m looking at buying a refurbished “BlackBerry 7290 Unlocked GSM” online. It says it is unlocked, no activation required. I already have a sprint PCS wireless service plan for cell phone, etc… Will I be able to activate my existing service on the blackberry if I buy it? Thanks!
Answer: You have Sprint. That’s a CDMA service. A GSM phone won’t work on it. Those are different technologies. Don’t buy it.
Question: I have metro pcs cellular service, and I wanted to use my service with an unlocked PDA phone. Is that possible
If not, what are my options?
Answer: As long as you have GSM service then you can use any unlocked phone. The only problem is with connecting to the Internet or sending multimedia messages. You will need to find out Metro PCS server addresses and change that information on the PDA itself. I have a few unlocked phones and I have been using them for my T-Mobile Service for a while.
Question: Can a regular media data plan work with a pda phone?
I have an att cell phone with text messaging and Internet access. I’m gonna get a PDA phone(unlocked, no contract) pretty soon. Do I need to get the PDA plan? Or can I keep using my current plan?
Answer: If you have a an unlimited data feature for a normal cell phone and you put your SIM card in a PDA, you will be able to use the internet just fine. If you have something like a Media Works bundle that includes 5mb of internet, you must keep in mind that PDAs use a considerable amount of bandwidth and will also access the internet without prompting you. It is terribly common for people in your situation to leave a Media Works bundle on their plan, purchase a PDA, and come back the next money with a $500 bill that they did not realize they had accumulated as they had not done any more web browsing then usual. Also, although you technically will be able to access the web with the unlimited data plan for regular phones, if you begin the use the phone often, at&t will begin to track your usage without notifying you. The system will know automatically that you’re using a PDA and not your old phone. If you begin to draw heavy bandwidth you will likely recieve a call from corporate stating that you’re on the wrong plan and they will automatically change you to PDA connect ($30) a month. If you do not accept to rate plan change, they will past date you for your PDA usage under the regular plan. I can’t really recommend what you’re doing in good concious unless you’re only going to be using it once in a while. I know it’s a frustrating situation, but if you’re going to have a PDA, you’re going to put more bandwidth strain on the towers, so you should have the right plan. If others post on this question stating that they have regular data plans and PDAs working off of them, I’m sure they do- It’s common. But it’s also common for them to come into my store screaming after they have finally been caught.
Question: Can an unlocked phone access the internet?
If I were to take my SIM card out of my Cingular phone and place it in an unlocked phone, such as a PDA phone, would that new phone be able to access the internet, even if my current plan does not have internet access included?
Answer: Simple answer. No.
Accessing the internet requires first of all, a phone or a smartphone or PDA that can connect to the internet via a variety of ways.
You sound like you are hoping to access the internet via the wireless phone’s carrier network. In that circumstance, you will need to first subscribe to the carrier’s GPRS or data service. Or at least have it activated. By default, it isn’t.
If you wish to access the internet wirelessly using the carrier’s GPRS service, you have to first have that enabled on your account (there’s no such thing as a “free lunch”). Once enabled, then, you can access the internet. And the carrier will charge you depending on either a monthly plan of a certain usage limit, or based on the data you have used.
Question: AT&T Unlocked PDA Cell Phone?
I was thinking about buying a 2008 unlocked PDA Cell phone on ebay for att, but my sister said she thinks to use those types of phones, you have to pay some sort of monthly fee.
On my family plan, i have unlimited texting/pic sending/ IM. I do not have unlimited data plan, going on the internet is charged per megabyte used. What if i got this phone but didn’t go on the internet? I also read that if it has built in Wifi it may not cost to get online.
I just want to know if I got this phone, would there be any extra fees other than what i’m paying now with my regular Sony Ericsson phone?
I was just going to buy this unlocked phone and put my current smart chip in it.
Answer: You have to pay for internet time, which includes checking eMail, but you’d have to pay that one a ‘regular’ phone.
I have a Palm Treo 650p on At&t and I don’t pay any extra because I don’t use their “internet” from the phone.
