Question: What to consider when buy an oversea unlocked mobile phone?
what to consider when buy an oversea unlocked mobile phone to use with J-softbank prepaid service?

Answer: To work in Japan it must support 3G UMTS 2100MHz capability. Even so called “global phones” or quad-band will not work if it is GSM only.

To get the prepaid SIM card in the first place, you’ll have to purchase one of Softbank’s prepaid phones. Then you can swap the SIM into your unlocked phone. After that, you can renew your prepaid balance from your unlocked phone using the standard procedure.

Note that non-approved phones will not be able to access most of the Softbank-only mobile sites. You also cannot send international SMS or MMS on the prepaid service, and call and data fees are very high.

Question:
Can I use my T-mobile sim card in an unlocked phone?
Right now I have a Razr and a T-mobile plan. I want to buy an unlocked T-mobile phone because it’s cheaper than going through the carrier. Will my sim card still work in the new phone?

Answer: 24/7, haha. Well, I guess tech support, but not customer care.

You do not even need the phone to be unlocked if it’s a T-Mobile phone. Any T-Mobile phone will work with your T-Mobile SIM. The only reason to choose an unlocked phone is so that it will work with a different carrier’s SIM cards than the provider that sold it in the first place.

Question: How do I get different SIM cards to work in my unlocked mobile phone?
I have a Samsung F700 and it’s unlocked. I’ve tried o2 and Orange SIM cards, which work, but I can’t get signal on the Orange ones, which is the network I want to be on. I’ve tried with two SIM cards, neither of which get signal. Any ideas what’s going on?

Answer: You are probably in the wrong area to get signal. Try walking up the road or standing on a bench and that might help. It sounds weird, but it works. It’s most likely to do with where you are in relation to a mobile phone mast. We have rubbish signal in our house, and some rooms work better than others. Try moving around, and see what works best where.

Question: Can someone please tell me where I might get a mobile phone unlocked?
I am trying to get an orange (uk) mobile phone unlocked. I have fallen into the hands of two online scammers so far and have been told by a high street shop they want to charge a hefty £45. Therefore can someone please tell me how I can unlock the phone myself or suggest a website where I can get it done (preferably for free) as I am not paying anymore money out to scammers.

Answer: It must be a newer phone that’s why they wanna charge you so much for getting it unlocked, the phone shop near me would probably charge around £30 to get it unlocked. You can buy an unlock code off ebay for about £25-30 depending on the phone, but make sure you buy it off someone with at least 98% positive feedback and who gives you a refund if the code doesn’t work. Or you could try calling Orange and telling them you’re going abroad or something so you need to get your phone unlocked to be able to use it abroad and they could unlock it for you, but I think they charge you something like £15. Not sure, so give them a call to find out exactly how much. If these two options don’t work, then there’s really nothing else you can do except pay the £45 or look for another shop or phone stall at your local market for someone who’ll unlock it for cheaper.
